1987 Trident Warrior 38

The Warrior 38 is a much sought-after blue-water yacht popular with both larger sailing families and long-distance cruisers alike. The particular genius of the design by Bill Dixon and Angus Primrose is to fit 4 double cabins, that's 8 berths without using the saloon, and 2 heads, into a 38-footer without making it feel cramped. They also managed to give her masses of deck space and a large deep cockpit while maintaining handsome exterior lines: all in all quite an achievement.

You might say the Warrior 38 sits mid-way between the much more expensive Halberg-Rassy and the more prosaic Moodys also designed by Dixon at the time. She is a definite must-see for anyone looking for a strong, capable coastal cruiser or planning to head off further afield in a boat this size.

Capercallie was bought new by her previous owner in 1987 and was one of the last of the production run of 49. she was then purchased by her current owner in 2015 and has been well looked after and the immediate impression is of a yacht ready to cast off and go. The original teak deck was removed in the past and the deck re-faired and treadmaster fitted which was then sealed over with resin. This has proved a very durable solution and the boat is to this day 100% drip-free inside.

All-GRP hull, decks and cabin. Long fin keel with fully-encapsulated ballast. Semi-balanced skeg-hung rudder.

Accommodation

Sleeps 8 in four double cabins NOT including saloon, comprising:

Starboard aft cabin, 2 single berths
Port aft cabin, double berth and skipper's navigation area
Mid-ships cabin to stbd. forward of saloon, 2 single berths (up and down)
Forward cabin, v-berth sleeps 2
heads compartments forward and aft both with hot & cold water and showers

The skipper's table & instruments in the aft cabin are a novel and useful feature, leaving the navigator undisturbed on a busy yacht and leaving the galley / saloon uncluttered.

Galley

The galley is situated on the port side and equipped with gas cooker with 2 burners, oven and grill. Also generous storage, 2 stainless steel sinks and a 12v refrigeration unit.

The saloon table provides ample space for 8 persons eating together, with the space behind the central seat allowing free movement throughout the yacht even with everyone seated.
